It was early Saturday morning, the sun was slowly rising over the bay and the birds where quietly chirping. The early hour of the day had a very slight breeze in the air, not a cloud in the sky, and a SPECTACULAR day was laid out in front of me. I decided to wash the windows of the small glass entrance way that leads to the front door of our house. There are 84 panes and of course, both sides required a basic cleaning. Using newspaper and windex, I started at the top outside panel and worked my way down to the bottom. The results were amazing. This was the first time I had used newspaper and when the sun was shining directly on the porch, not a streak showed. I removed all the snow boots and washed the porch floor. I dragged out a table that I had sitting in the basement and an ottoman. The table requires painting, but that was left for another day. I sat out some flowers, lighted some incense, and took a walk to the beach. Upon my return I was greeted with shiny clean windows and the smell of spring as I entered our home.

  1. Kathy, this is really lovely. And you're right. There's something about returning to the scene of one's labor and enjoying the result -- as if seeing the accomplishment for the first time. I had never thought of that, but you captured it so well.

  2. What a coincidence. We were washing our windows today too and wiping with newspapers. Your window and flowers look great...Christine

  3. There is such satisfaction in a job well done. That satisfaction and a walk on the beach sound like a perfect morning to me! You did a great job on the brass door knobs too! Nice to "meet" you!
